bowlingSo, are you a bowler? Or maybe I should say have you ever gone bowling? Of course, I have never meet anyone who hasn’t gone bowling at least once in their lifetime.

In fact, I would be quite interested to hear from anyone who hasn’t bowled before. So let me know if perhaps you’re one who has never thrown the ole bowling ball and let’s strike up a conversation.

I for one, have always enjoyed bowling but can’t say I was ever good at it. I know in college I was looking for a class to take so I could fulfill the required credits for p.e. classes (at least that what they were called in my day) so I took a semester of bowling. I can’t say my team mates were glad I joined but I sure had fun.

But I do find bowling fascinating and that’s why the headline announcing that George Kontos of Joliet, Ill. was the first to roll 800 at the 2009 Open Championships made me stand up and cheer.

I mean I really had to cheer. I just can’t imagine doing such a thing. They said he rolled games of 256, 268 and 277. Quite impressive don’t you think?

Can you imagine doing that? In the prime of my bowling league days, I was happy to get 100. I mean 100 was a reason to celebrate. So just looking at scores like this impressed me.

Congratulations to George and his family. And of course to his entire Joliet team: Great job!
