The words “Local Community” have different meanings to different people here in Joliet, Illinois and around the world. So, view this video and the others presented in this article offered by the “Playing for Change” video creators’ with their own meaning of community. And then let us here at the Directory of Joliet know how they have inspired you.

Yes, music has always had it’s own way of inspiring a community feeling and connection between people like nothing else. Of course, all music videos can be fun to watch and listen to but I found the ones offered right here totally unique and fitting for the theme of this blog.

We here at the Directory of Joliet strive to build a sense of community as well as create a community gathering place to share thoughts, ideas and resources. And these videos do that so well!

After viewing the above video, take a moment and ponder your thoughts on being a local resident of our Joliet, Illinois area community. What do you think about when the word community comes to your mind?

Do you get a vision of…

  • The street you live on?
  • Your community block or somewhat larger neighborhood?
  • Maybe you imagine the entire city of Joliet?
  • Or even a surrounding community such as Shorewood, Crest Hill, Plainfield, Lockport, Romeoville, New Lenox or another local Illinois neighborhood?
  • Or perhaps you even visualize the south western suburban area of the greater Chicagoland community?

We all seem to have different ideas and images in mind when the word community crosses our individual thoughts. And some people as the first video above shows, have a vision of the entire world as community.

Just check out this next wonderful video in the “Playing for Change” series to see exactly what I’m talking about.

Now, that’s what I call community organization. Yes, a community of folks working together to produce something inspiring as they connect in a way that the entire world can appreciate and enjoy together.

Here is yet another great example of this world community effort:

Playing for Change is a group of artists and other inspired people from around the world that have come together as a multimedia movement. Their sole purpose is to inspire, connect and bring peace to the world through the music they create as a world community collaborative effort.

They are looking for people from local communities just like Joliet, Illinois around the world to join them in connecting the world peacefully through music.

If you’re interested in joining them go to Playing for Change and sign up today.

You can also support them by ordering their Songs Around The World (CD + DVD)

Or join the Playing for Change Online Street Team

They need everyone interested to join their world wide movement to help in the building of schools and other community projects to connect students and inspire communities in need through music.

I can’t think of a better way to visualize the larger community that all of us in the local Joliet, IL community are a part of when you really think about it.
